Rim drive. Approximately 9-1/4 inches / 235 mm wide, not including the strap hangers.

I bought this recorder for nostalgic reasons, thinking it was the same model I had as a child. I recently came across one of my old diaries (I intermittently kept a diary from age 11 to 14 or so) and found the entry for Saturday, February 12, 1966, which reveals that I actually had a model TP-32A. Mine looked the same, although the head cover and lid might not have been dark blue.
